Poultry farmers in the country say they expect the maiden fiscal policy of President Akufo Addo led NPP administration to tackle the numerous problems facing maize farmers in the country.
According to the National President of Ghana Poultry Farmers Association, Mr. Victor Oppong Agyei, substantial increase in maize production in the country will lead to a reduction in the cost of poultry feed which will inure to the benefit of poultry farmers in particular and entire citizenry in general.
Mr. Oppong was speaking to Fox News about the expectations of poultry farmers from the NPP’s fiscal policy which will be presented to parliament by the Finance Minister, Ofori Atta, tomorrow, Thursday, March 2, 2017.
He said he also expect the budget to focus more on the One (1) Village One (1) dam as well as One (1) District One (1) Factory policies that the NPP promised to implement during the 2016 election campaign.
Mr. Oppong Agyei noted that the One (1) Village One (1) dam policy, if implemented, will help farmers in the Northern part of Ghana, who are mostly maize farmers, to do an all year round farming which will ensure that there is always enough and cheap maize in the country to feed poultry farmers.
Touching on the One (1) District One policy, Mr. Oppong said the government can establish a poultry farm in every district as a means of creating job for the unemployed youth in the country.
